Enhancing Resilience of post conflict communities

In post-conflict situations, rural communities have very limited access to productive infrastructure, assets and public and/or private services. In such situations a Community Driven Development (CDD) approach is the most effective, as it empowers communities to prioritize investments based on local needs, economic threats and opportunities, whilst promoting social cohesion and facilitating social inclusion. Given the post conflict context of the country, IEA will seek to empower communities to inclusively identify their main constraints and prioritize solutions through development of Community Development Plans that promote private and public investments into productive agriculture, pastoral, aquatic -based livelihood opportunities. The underlying assumption is that post conflict communities and households remain vulnerable to climate change and other stressors and have limited adaptive capacity to manage these shocks.
